“Io sono Mateusz” by Maciej Pieprzyca wins the Audience Award as best movie at CiakPolska 2015

I am Mateusz by Maciej Pieprzyca won the Audience Award as best movie at the third edition of CiakPolska. From Poland, a small yet great movie based on a real story that states, without any rhetoric, the right and the will of existing beyond the limits of disability.


The story is that of Mateusz, affected by a severe cerebral palsy and diagnosed as mental retardation since his birth. Twenty-five years after, he will be discovered perfectly able to understand and to discern. Although Mateusz finds very difficult to communicate with others, he experiments his right to live as a human being, firmly affirming his rights and his personality.

I am Mateusz by the Polish director, documentarist and screenwriter Maciej Pieprzyca, has been already awarded at Chicago and Montreal Film Festivals and at Polish Film Awards 2014.
