SYNOPSIS

El Pepe, A Supreme Life, is a documentary on the life of Uruguayan politician and former guerrilla fighter José Mujica. Still proud of his past as a political and activist (which earned him 12 years in prison), ‘El Pepe’, former president of Uruguay, presents himself as a iconoclastic global leader who still dares to dream of a better world.
The documentary presents different moments in the life of Mújica, making a friendly portrait of a humble man who became president while staying true to his beliefs, while pushing and encouraging change. While we are acquainted with the man who surprised the world for his values and became a phenomenon and a reference, we discover the fascination of Kusturica for “El Pepe”, since according to the director: impressed by him and his work, and celebrating utopia and virtue, I made this movie.
