On Tuesday, August 5 starts the twelfth edition of Molisecinema with a special evening dedicated to Flavio Bucci to whom the festival is dedicating a retrospective. As inaugural event Bucci brings a new version of its highly successful pièce of theatre The Diary of a Madman, the show that in 1988 captivated audiences throughout Italy, quickly becoming a piece of worship. From the novel by Gogol, directed by Bucci itself, is an adaptation of Mario Moretti, and, for the preview of Molisecinema, it will be played by Marco Caldoro. The performance will take place at h. 19:00 at the cinema and theater, and will introduce the retrospective tribute that MoliseCinema dedicated to the actor with the presentation of seven of his films.

To follow at 20.45 in the Arena Bucci meets the public of the festival accompanied by artistic director Federico Pommier Vincelli and the Mayor of Casacalenda Michele Giambarba. Bucci, in fact, is a native of Casacalenda. Given the huge demand for participation, the show Diary of a mad man will be repeated on Wednesday, August 6, at 12 pm, with free admission.

At the start of the festival also the feature film competition “Countries along”: at 9.30 pm, at the Arena, will be presented Il venditore di medicine, the second film by Antonio Morabito, a  condemnation of medical corruption telling a topical story. The film will be introduced by Giorgio Gobbi, one of the interpreters (and with Flavio Bucci is among the actors of the Marchese del Grillo) of the film, also with Claudio Santamaria, Isabella Ferrari and journalist Marco Travaglio, for the first time actor. .

The opening night of the festival will culminate at 11 pm at Cinestelle, Small Arena, with the concert of La Pingra, a band that offers a mix of electronic, pop, low-fi and drum machine 80s. For MoliseCinema The La pingra perform parts of their soundtrack from their (forthcoming) film The Spectaculis. A mix of music and images, for a multisensory concert, inspired by great movies of the past.

Among the events of the day, at 6 pm will take place the inauguration of the photographic exhibition Details & Horizons curated by Linda Pietropaolo.

Flavio Bucci has a very long and interesting career, which starts under the guidance of Elio Petri, who directs him in The property is no longer a theft, one of the films that will be presented during MoliseCinema. Then, Monicelli made him legendary in the famous monologue of Don Sebastian on the scaffold in Il Marchese del Grillo. Remarkable its interpretation of Ligabue by Salvatore Nocita for the television, Via Don Sturzo, Awful Mess on Via Merulana, Maledetti vi amerò by Marco Tullio Giordana, Dario Argento’s Suspiria until The Divo by Paolo Sorrentino. All these films will presented in the retrospective MoliseCinema, that is introduced by a text in the catalog of the critic Raffaele Rivieccio.
