The Prize “Cinema Giovane” – now in its eighth edition-is a date that is repeated with ritual practice in the capital. This year the festival presents a selection of ten of the best films of  young directors , whose first nine debuts, distributed in 2012.

The Young Cinema Award – now in its eighth edition- is a date that is repeated with customary ritual in the capital. This year the festival, which presents a selection of ten of the best films of the young Italian directors, including nine first films, distributed in 2011, will take place March 26 to 31, 2012 at the historic St. Leo the Great Auditorium (via Bolzano 38 ), at the annual cultural week Association Cinecircolo Romano – who is the promoter of the Festival. The event includes three first films in competition: Into Paradiso by Paola Randi, Corpo Celeste by Alice Rohrwacher; Scialla! (Stai sereno) by Francesco Bruni. There will also be the following selected first works: Il primo incarico by Giorgia Cecere, Nessuno mi può giudicare by Massimiliano Bruno, La kryptonite nella borsa by Ivan Cotroneo, Et in terra pax by Matteo Botrugno and Daniele Coluccini, Io sono lì by Andrea Segre, L’ultimo terrestre by Gianni Pacinotti. These are supplemented by the selected works of young Italian cinema: Terraferma by Emanuele Crialese, whose performers are in the rose of the actors nominees for Best Actor and Best Young Actor. For the prize to the best young performers were selected: Ughetta D’Onorascenzo and Antonia Truppo for actresses; Filippo Scicchitano and Filippo Pucillo for actors.

Important, even for this eighth edition, the role of the public who will vote the films in competition on a special form. 19 screenings are planned, including matinees for students of secondary schools of the City of Rome and Province inserted in Education Project at the Cinema of author, all other invitations to free for members and the public host (coupon for two films with registration in auditorium).

The PECA, after the success of last year, repeats the writing contest of the best review, which will be published on the site of the Roman Cinecircolo and awarded with a plaque during the awards ceremony of the event. This year the project has been enriched by an interesting novelty: three of the participating schools can take part to the formation of the jury David Young dell’AGISCUOLA National. The Young Cinema Award – parallel to the screenings of films offers a chance for reflection on the state of Italian cinema, with the Forum – open to the public – young Italian cinema: between authorship and the night market and the Award of the festival. At the same time in the foyer of the Auditorium will be held an exhibition contest of works of figurative art. Friday, March 30, 2012 will be awarded the Young Cinema Award for Best Debut author and the best young performers. The awards ceremony will be introduced by the artistic director and conducted by the “couple” Catello Masullo and Alessio Giannone. Prizes will go to the other artists in the competition. Some of the films selected will be invited to the Circeo Film Festival – film festival which takes place between June and July in San Felice Circeo.

The selection of films was carried out by a commission of experts chose between 40 works first distributed in 2011. The Film Award Young uses a selection committee composed of: Alessandro Casanova, Elio Garland, Catello Masullo, Enzo Natta Bruno Torri and the artistic director of the Festival and President of Cinecircolo Peter Murchio.
